A small island in the
middle of a big mall
The Dubai Mall is not short of things to do. What it was short of was somewhere a two-year-old and a nine-year-old could both be happy for two hours, within sight of a parent holding a coffee.
So we built one. Treasure Island opened on the second level of Galeries Lafayette with a simple brief: make it genuinely safe, make it beautiful enough that adults want to stay, and fill it with things that teach something without ever announcing that they are teaching.
The pirate theme was never decoration for its own sake. An island gives children a story to be inside — a lighthouse to climb, a cove to race through, a ship to sail. Nine zones, one narrative, and a floor plan that works whether you have ninety minutes or a whole afternoon.
Four things we won't compromise on
Safety is the product
Padded surfaces, age-separated zones, daily sanitising and hosts on the floor — not a policy on a wall.
Play teaches
Every zone has something underneath it — balance, sequencing, negotiation, patience, language.
Parents matter too
Comfortable seating, clear sightlines and good coffee a few steps away. You are a guest, not a supervisor.
It should be beautiful
Hand-painted murals, real greenery and a build quality that holds up. Children notice care.
The unglamorous part
we care most about
Every parent walks in doing the same quick scan. Here is what you will find when you do.
- Soft, padded flooring throughout every play zone
- Under-threes kept in their own gated area
- Equipment checked daily and sanitised on a fixed schedule
- Trained play hosts on the floor during all opening hours
- Grip socks required — no exceptions, including for adults
- An adult stays on site: we are not a drop-off centre
- Capacity managed so zones never get dangerously crowded
